ACLU organizer to speak on accessibility at caucuses
“If we can raise the volume on key issues like criminal justice reform, immigration, voting rights, and reproductive freedom before the 2020 primaries, we can make sure civil rights and civil liberties are front and center,” according to the group’s website. The lecture is sponsored by Iowa State’s political science department, the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women in Politics, the Vote Everywhere student organization and the Committee on Lectures, which is funded by Student Government.

Ayesha Ahsan, a fellow with the Andrew Goodman Foundation at Arizona State University, is also chair of civic engagement at ASU Changemaker Central. She joined The Show to explain why students should be allowed to vote in elections where they don’t permanently reside.

Are women's right to vote guaranteed? Lisa Tetrault, an expert on the U.S. suffrage movement, will discuss the topic “When Women Won the Right to Vote: A History Unfinished” on February 6. The event is held by Andrew Goodman Partner--University of Central Arkansas--and will include an opportunity to register to vote with the local Andrew Goodman Vote Everywhere Campus Team.

“The AGF ambassadors coordinate student voter registration, voter education and GOTV efforts with leaders in student government and other active organizations participating in the multi-partisan Student Civic Coalition,” Osaid Alberto Olivas, executive director of the Pastor Center for Politics and Public Service said. “I give them all so much credit for making our campus one of the most engaged and active universities in the country.”
