Jacqueline Smith-Mason, Ph.D., joined The Honors College in 2004 and serves as the Associate Dean and Director of Undergraduate Research. She previously taught courses in criminal justice and political science in the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at VCU. In addition, she has also held various policy research positions in state government.
Her research and teaching interests include public policy affecting women, families and children, challenges facing the American criminal justice system, public sector management and issues related to honors education.
Dr. Smith-Mason received her Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration and M.S. in Criminal Justice from VCU, as well as her B.A. in Sociology from George Mason University.

Srija Doma is a third-year student at Virginia Commonwealth University pursuing dual degrees in Bioinformatics and Political Science. She is passionate about healthcare, health equity, student advocacy, and the ways that policy and civic engagement shape people’s ability to access care and resources. Through her involvement in student government and civic engagement initiatives, she works to empower students to advocate for themselves and become more informed members of their communities. Outside of academics and advocacy, Srija enjoys attending concerts and musicals, traveling, and discovering new food spots.

Shanneka Claiborne is an educator, doctoral student, and community leader from Petersburg, Virginia. She currently serve as a lead teacher at The L.E.E. Academy and is passionate about helping students recognize the power of their voices. As an Andrew Goodman Foundation Ambassador, Shanneka is committed to promoting civic engagement and helping young people understand the importance of voting. She believes that education and advocacy can empower students to become confident leaders who create meaningful change in their communities.

Adrian Taylor is an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Field Experiences and Special Projects in the College of Education at Virginia State University. With more than 25 years of experience in education, Adrian is passionate about mentoring students, developing future leaders, and creating opportunities for meaningful community engagement. Adrian is committed to empowering students to recognize their voices, exercise their civic rights, and create positive change in their communities.
