Fall 2018 National Network Update: Vote Everywhere Grows by Two Campus Partners and One State

Launching into Fall 2018, Vote Everywhere continues its pattern of strategic growth to enhance its national network of student civic leaders. At its most extensive yet, Vote Everywhere is welcoming two new campus partners and expanding to one new state.

With the additions of University of Baltimore and University of South Carolina – Upstate, our first campus partner in South Carolina, the Vote Everywhere program now includes 56 campuses in 24 states plus Washington, D.C. Through these new partnerships, The Andrew Goodman Foundation aims to deepen Vote Everywhere’s existing efforts in Maryland and broaden them across the Southeast.

The University of Baltimore and University of South Carolina – Upstate are joining Vote Everywhere’s national network just in time for this fall’s Midterm Elections. Like all Vote Everywhere campus teams, they plan to register voters, get out the vote, and improve voting access for their peers through civic education and individualized campus plans.

Vote Everywhere’s Program Managers are excited to welcome both new campus partners, foster their connections within the network, support their on-the-ground engagement, and share their accomplishments to come. Nicole Costa, a Vote Everywhere Program Manager, says, “the students and staff on our new partner campuses show great promise, and I cannot wait to see what they will achieve in the lead up to the Midterm Elections and beyond!”

University of Baltimore
Baltimore, Maryland
The predominant public institution in Maryland’s largest city with an enrollment of 5,336 students, the university is both of Baltimore and for Baltimore. Its mission is to offer “career-focused education for aspiring and current professionals, providing the region with highly educated leaders who make distinctive contributions to the broader community.” The university emphasizes community involvement throughout Baltimore, as evidenced by its outreach intiatives. Fun fact: Three-thousand election judges were trained by the Schaefer Center for Public Policy in 2016.

University of South Carolina – Upstate
Spartanburg, South Carolina
Located near Charlotte in the fast-growing and dynamic Upstate region, the university enrolls about 6,000 students and provides immense academic and professional opportunities to its students. In addition to its highly-ranked academic programs, the University of South Carolina – Upstate also offers chances for students to become engaged with the surrounding community. For example, Upstate students volunteered more than 18,000 hours in just one year!

In total, Vote Everywhere’s network now comprises almost 125 Ambassadors and 65 Campus Champions who are passionate about voter and civic engagement and committed to living Andy’s legacy of creating an inclusive democracy. University of Baltimore and University of South Carolina – Upstate, welcome to our movement!
