Live the Legacy Podcast

Bridging The Past And The Present

Students face a lot of hurdles to participate in elections. In addition to being first-time voters, they are unfamiliar with the process, often do not have the proper documentation, and are frequent targets of voter suppression laws despite the 26th Amendment. Many students also do not feel comfortable participating in elections due to a lack of civic knowledge or feeling disillusioned with our current political system. However, civil unrest following the murders of George Floyd and other Black Americans has seen many young people leading and joining protests to advocate for Black lives and racial justice.

Season one of the Live The Legacy podcast will bridge the past and the present and explore the rich history of how young people, especially young people of color, have taken the reins to secure our democracy time and time again through intergenerational conversations between Andrew Goodman Ambassadors and Alumni and civil rights leaders.

Bridging The Present And The Future

Season two of the Live The Legacy Podcast bridges the present with the future to explore the landscape of voting rights in our country by capturing conversations between current voting rights advocates and the next generation of activists. This season will feature six different interviews with our Andrew Goodman Ambassadors and current voting rights activists, lawyers, and leaders. The conversations will highlight the power of the youth vote, advice for future voting rights activists, and strategies to continue fighting for the right to vote.

The Future And Beyond

Season three of the Live The Legacy Podcast explores the future of our democracy and beyond. This season, we will hear directly from young voters themselves. What has been motivating young people to vote in such record-breaking numbers for multiple years in a row? What inspires them to spend their time getting their peers registered to vote? We cover issues that drive them to the polls like safe access to abortion, climate change, LGBTQ issues, gender justice, and racial justice. No spoilers, but we can confidently say that the youth are going to be alright!
